That’s the greeting I received walking into the gym, this morning. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no celebrity by any stretch of the imagination, I just show up, like clockwork, every day. Is it radical commitment? I don’t think so. Nope, it’s just a simple routine that I’m radically committed to because it’s easy.
That’s exactly what all the self-help gurus point to when it comes to establishing and maintaining good habits. Make it simple, make it satisfying and you have a roadmap to success. If you truly believe that you can affect the quality of your life as you age, then this kind of decision should be easy. Hit the gym on your way to or from work. Use an extended lunch break to get in a regularly scheduled workout. Point is, find your time and stick to it.
Today was swim day and I found myself in my happy place. 50 laps, 16 mins on the bike, 8 mins on the elliptical and 4 mins on the rower. It was a good day, so I threw in some wall balls and burpees for good measure.
