So You Say it’s Your Birthday?

That’s right! Today marks #60. I’ve actually had some time to settle into my new demographic, though, what with a 5-day long birthday celebration that started on the 4th. Kids, grandkids, proud wife – life couldn’t be better.

But, those with an attention for detail may astutely deduce that I’ve been writing about my sixties, fitness journey for some time now. Several blog posts, right? So what gives? I haven’t been lying, that’s the truth. It’s actually quite simple to explain. You see, in Asian cultures, when you’re born, you’re one. After that first year, you start your second and so forth. So, this past year I’ve actually been living my sixtieth year. No harm, no foul. And, on my actual sixtieth birthday, I got to celebrate by working out in my happy place.

So, sticking to my commitment to be committed to my fitness goals, I picked back up, this week, with my swim day routine.

  • 68 laps in the 25m pool.
  • 12 minutes on the stationary bike.
  • 60 pushups.
  • 6 minutes on the elliptical.
  • 3 minutes rowing

I look back and remember having to force myself to leave the house and get to the gym. Or, jumping on any excuse to not have to go. Now I can’t wait. Hopefully, on your fitness journey, you can arrive at that same spot, too.
