Conservationist? Possible?

We’re talking in the gym, right? Yessir and I thought I was an expert at conserving time and effort. Today, I met my match! My go to method for ‘speeding’ things up is to move thru a combination (similar to a circuit routine) of exercises that have a similar focus i.e. bench press, dips, tricep push downs. It is taxing and there is limited time for resting between sets. But, today I was one-upped!

I showed up for my Monday fave, chest and tri’s, and said hello to my friend, Donn. “What’s on tap?” He responded, “Super sets. You know, push pull, chest/back, tri’s/bi’s and so forth.” Wow! If you can handle the pressure of two days combined into one, this is the ultimate in time conservancy. It couples aerobics and cardio with anaerobic muscle building and produces the perfect storm. If you can handle it?

I’m going to give it a shot! I think I’ll work out the particulars, first, and then, in the name of ‘getting after it’, it will be do or die. I’m all for it and you can bet I’ll be writing all about Super Sets in the near future. Thanks, Donn.

Today was Chest and Tri’s and I brought my A game.

  • First Combo x3 sets: dumbbell bench press, dips, tricep push downs, crunches.
  • Second Combo x3 sets: dumbbell flies, dumbbell pullovers, skull crushers, sit-ups and bicycles.
Three in One – boom!
  • Third Combo x2 sets: incline dumbbell bench, tricep kickbacks, farmers carry and planks.

  1. Looks like your doing twice the volume I am. Haha! But yeah, I think efficiency might be the most important element needed for staying in long term fitness regimens.
