A two-fer?!??? What gives?

Ever feel like you’ve gone and run out of time? Tried to cram too much into the schedule, even when you know you’re supposed to be at the gym by 11:00? Totally me, both yesterday and today. My fault? Maybe – ish. Today was a doctor’s appointment and then a race to the grocery store for a “few” items and it was 11:20 by the time I got to the gym. What do you do?

I personally think there’s three options. #1: be a quitter and try again tomorrow. I’m not saying there’s no time, just time has been cut short, for whatever reason. I think this is the dangerous option, personally because it opens the door to negligence and the loss of your sense of priority. That’s why I like doors #2 and #3 a whole lot more.

#2: look at the routine you were scheduled to do and tweak it to meet your time constraints. That’s what happened to me, yesterday. Chest and Tri’s is a favorite and takes a good 1.5 hours but when time is short, it’s time to compress. in and out in 45 minutes.

  • Bench 3 sets, Dips 3 sets, Dumbbell flies 3 sets, Russian twists 3 sets.
  • Tricep push downs 3 sets, Dumbbell pullovers 3 sets, Tricep kickbacks 3 sets, crunches 3 sets.
  • Incline dumbbell press 2 sets, Planks 2 sets.

#3: focus on your favorite and most beneficial. Usually, I swim, bike, run, row and add kettle bells or medicine balls. Today, I had 50 minutes and opted to go with my fave.

  • 68 laps in the pool.

Because of time constraints, yesterday, today is a two-fer. Ha!
