What on earth does that mean? Am I finally admitting that I don’t have a clue? Ha! Actually, it’s a rather sneaky approach to catching your muscles off guard and tricking them into greater growth. It all revolves around muscle memory and the lull we can get into doing the same routine over and over again. I’ve preached before about the importance of knowing multiple exercise variations for each body part and that’s the key to being able to confuse your overly confident muscles and force them into greater growth.
Being able to add and subtract (better yet, throw in some variety) exercises while sticking to the tried and true routines will give you an added pump when leaving the gym and will leave you feeling that muscular soreness that gym goers crave.
With all that said, today was the tried and true Chest and Tri’s portion of my weekly routine. Instead of a barbell bench press, I opted for the dumbbell version of the bench press. it turned out to be a great Monday.

- Combo Routine One x3 sets: dumbbell bench, tricep push downs, steep inclined Arnold press and crunches.
- Combo Routine Two x3 sets: dumbbell flies, dumbbell pullovers, skull crushers and knee raisers.
- Combo Routine Three x3 sets: dumbbell incline bench, forward and lateral dumbbell raises, tricep kickbacks and Russian twists w/ weighted ball.
- Wall squats, bench squats, lunges and planks.
