When’s the Payoff?

Wouldn’t it be awesome if weightlifting produced results like a microwave does? I honestly think that the crowd that floods the gym post New Year’s Eve believes this is the case. Or, at least hopes it is. We feel as though there should be some visible muscular definition or a noticeable increase in the weight we’re able to press in as short a time as possible. Is that reality, though?

I had three stents put into my ‘widow maker’ artery sixteen months ago. When I was cleared to lift and go to the gym, I did with a vengeance. Guess what I’m seeing, more than a year later? You guessed it. Muscular definition, a return to some of the weight amounts I used to be able to lift. My abs are showing and I see an increase in cardio stamina. The results are coming thru and it’s pretty exciting, considering the work I’ve put in. Seems like the payoff is happening. Put in the work and you will see results. It just won’t be as fast as a microwave. Sorry.

Today was back and bi’s. I love this day.

  • Combo One x 3 sets: wide grip lat pull downs, bent over barbell rows, dumbbell deadlifts and reverse curls.
  • Combo Two x 3 sets: single dumbbell rows, bent over dumbbell shrugs, wide grip cable curls, sit-ups.
  • Combo Three x 3 sets: narrow grip ez-curl-bar curls, single dumbbell preacher curls, hammer curls and crunches.

It was a good day to be in the gym.
